Emergency Child Care First Aid
With CPR Level B & AED
Duration: 1 Day (9 hours, may be delivered in segments)

This comprehensive course is specifically designed for parents, caregivers, and those who live or work with infants and young children. It emphasizes injury prevention, emergency response, and life-saving skills focused on the unique needs of children and babies.

Participants will learn essential first aid and CPR techniques tailored to childhood emergencies, equipping them with the confidence and knowledge to act quickly and effectively in urgent situations.

• Introduction to the Canadian Red Cross

• How to recognize and respond to emergencies

• Understanding the EMS (Emergency Medical Services) system

• The Check, Call, Care approach

• Managing airway emergencies

• Breathing and circulation emergencies in children and babies

• CPR and AED for children and babies

• Wound care and bleeding control

• Head, neck, and spinal injuries

• Bone, muscle, and joint injuries

• Response to sudden medical emergencies

• Environmental illnesses (e.g., heat stroke, hypothermia)

• Identifying and managing poisoning

• Best practices in caring for children during an emergency

🏅 Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive:

• A Red Cross Emergency Child Care First Aid certificate

• CPR Level B certification with AED use

• Certification is valid for 3 years and recognized by BC Child Care Licensing
