Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) – Level 1 Training

This introductory course is designed for new or existing members of a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), or for worker health and safety representatives. In B.C., workplaces with 20 or more employees are required by law to have a functioning JHSC.
Participants will gain a solid understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements for health and safety committees in the workplace.

Duties and functions of a Joint Health and Safety Committee
Establishing and following rules of procedure for committee operations
Legal requirements for conducting incident investigations
Conducting effective workplace inspections
Understanding the process for refusals of unsafe work
Performing annual evaluations of the JHSC’s effectiveness
This course equips participants with the foundational skills and confidence to contribute to a safer and more compliant workplace through an effective Joint Health and Safety Committee.
