Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) – Level 1 Training

This introductory course is designed for new or existing members of a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), or for worker health and safety representatives. In B.C., workplaces with 20 or more employees are required by law to have a functioning JHSC.

Participants will gain a solid understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements for health and safety committees in the workplace.

🔍 Key Course Content Includes:

  • Duties and functions of a Joint Health and Safety Committee

  • Establishing and following rules of procedure for committee operations

  • Legal requirements for conducting incident investigations

  • Conducting effective workplace inspections

  • Understanding the process for refusals of unsafe work

  • Performing annual evaluations of the JHSC’s effectiveness

This course equips participants with the foundational skills and confidence to contribute to a safer and more compliant workplace through an effective Joint Health and Safety Committee.
